摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a picture display device which enables an observer to observe a three-dimensional image of a natural super-multi-eye area without causing the fatigue of the observer's eyes. SOLUTION: In the picture display device which has an image display means for displaying image information, a projection optical system for forming the image of the image information as an image for observation on another position, a pupil image-formation optical system for forming the image of the pupil of the projection optical system as an observation pupil on the described position, an aperture forming means disposed at the pupil position of the projection optical system or its vicinity and for changing the size and the center position of an aperture and has a control means for controlling the operation of the image display means and of the aperture forming means while establishing the synchronism of the operation of both means, the image for observation is observed from the observation pupil. In such a case, the aperture forming means is formed of a space modulation element of one-dimensional type, and at least either of the projection optical system and the pupil-formation optical system is composed of anamorphic optical system.
