PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the time information to be understandable for the viewer when the information is reproduced from a large capacity recording medium. SOLUTION: Data of a disk 1 are taken out and reproduced by a system processor part 3, video decoder part 3, sub-video decoder part 5, audio decoder part 8, video processor part 6, video encoder part 18, etc. The present time information is detected from a clock part 12 by a system CPU part 11. Also by the system CPU 11, the data reproducing time is recognized from the managing information being recorded on the disk, and the calculation is executed by using the information from the clock part, then the preliminarily announced time for the finish of reproduction is displayed on a monitor part 7 or a panel display part 16.
