The adjustable width flux heating assembly comprises: (a) two J-shaped conductors positioned on a common plane to form an inductive coil with a spacing in the internal cross section of the coil; and (b) flux guides for the conductors, positioned around the conductors and clear of the middle coil spacing in order to allow the conductors to move relatively in the common plane. Also claimed is an induction heating system for heating metal strip, generally similar to the above assembly, and adjustable to heat metal strips of varying widths.
