The sensor attachment has a distance element (28) with the sensor (2) mounted on one end for insertion at least partly into an opening (24) in the crankcase or a closure lid (4) opposite a crankshaft sensing element. The other end of the distance element is attached to an accessible region (8,38) of the crankcase at a distance from the opening. The tubular distance element is of the same material as the crankcase.
