The method involves activating a switch (10) in or on the control drive every time a predetermined position of the output shaft (8) is reached or passed, in which neither the reduction gear nor the control element is in contact with a stop. A position signal is generated for synchronizing a stepper motor. The switch is activated in a position of the control element which is most frequently reached or passed by the control element in operation.
