The scanning method uses a video scanner system (6) coupled to an electronic evaluation device, for scanning the entire internal contour of the lens seat of a spectacles frame (13) secured in a holder using a tumble movement of the lens opening (14) or its image relative to the video scanner system, e.g. using a mirror (7) rotated about 2 perpendicular axes (X,Y) via respective controlled setting motors (9,10). An Independent claim for a 3-dimensional scanning device for a spectacles frame lens seat is also included.
