PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the size of an indication of the degree of a traffic jam in a road traffic information display to be easy to view on a screen. SOLUTION: A processing method for providing an indication of the degree of a traffic jam on a simple figure is disclosed. Figures expressing roads or belt-like figures along the figures are subdivided in proportion to the VICS link length of a corresponding road and brought into correspondence with VICS links. The subdivided figure information where traffic jam information indicates a traffic jam is extracted, and when its continuous figure length is less than a predetermined length, the subdivided figures in front of and behind the figure indicating a traffic jam are added to the latter figure by a predetermined method so that the predetermined length is attained. Similar processes are performed on the remaining crowded VICS links, and data for indicating the degree of the traffic jam is originated based on figures resulting from these processes, whereby an indication of the traffic jam having a length equal to or greater than the predetermined length and a figure for indicating crowdedness are obtained. |
