Each cylinder working space (12,13) is divided by a wall-sealing (4) floating piston (14,15) into two subchambers each fed with pressure oil and forming subchambers (12a,13a) adjoining the piston (3) and subchambers (12b,13b) adjoining the cylinder head (10,11). The floating pistons, preferably in circular disk shape, run axially free between piston (3) and respective cylinder head (10,11). Each subchamber has its individual hydraulic connection and the inner subchamber in each case (12a,13a) is linked to its connection by a tubular lance which is fixed close to the cylinder head and passes axi-parallel through the outer subchambers (12b,13b) and sealably through the floating pistons (14,15). In their working movement the lances ride into blind holes provided on both piston (3) ends and both cylinder spaces (12,13) have a switchable choke so as to open one respective connection and almost or completely close off the other connection (20a,21a).
