Liquid crystal color picture screen has a liquid crystal layer (I) between 2 parallel transparent substrates, means of influencing the transmission state of (I), a blue-emitting radiation source with a maximum emission at a wavelength lambda 1 of over 400 and under 450 nm on the first substrate side and a first phosphor layer containing phosphor(s) on the second substrate.
