A pneumatic tyre comprises a carcass ply 3 of parallel cords, threads or wires extending from bead to bead, which cords in tread region 7 form an acute angle with the circumferential direction and in the side walls form an acute angle (substantially but not exactly a rightangle) with said circumferential direction, one or more parallel cord tread-reinforcing plies 21... 23 whose cords extend at equal and opposite acute angles to be symmetrical together with ply 3, and each sidewall having an additional ply 25 of parallel cords &c. extending from the associated bead to the adjacent shoulder, the cords making an acute angle with the underlying carcass cords 3. The cords of each ply 3, 25 make an angle of between 5 degrees and 15 degrees with the radial and are symmetrical with respect thereto. |
