PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost surface treating solution by which films provided with properties suitable for its application can be deposited in sliding parts of various stocks, treating equipment is simple and the management of chemicals is easily executable. SOLUTION: This surface treating solution for sliding parts contains a reducing agent, a complex forming agent, a stabilizing agent, a buffering agent and an activating agent and contains nickel ions, at least either metallic ions selected from phosphorous ions and boron ions and at least one ore more metallic ions selected from tungsten ions, cobalt ions, palladium ions, rhenium ions, yttrium ions, molybdenum ions, titanium ions, manganese ions, vanadium ions, zircon ions, chromium ions, copper ions, gold ions, silver ions, zinc ions, iron ions, lead ions, tin ions, and platinum ions, and whose pH is controlled to 9 to 14.
