PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially advantageously producing an oximinoalkanoic acid derivative having antidiabetic activity. SOLUTION: This method is to react a compound represented by general formula (I), wherein R1 is a (substituted) hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic group; X is a direct bond, CO, CH(OH) or NR; Y is O, S, SO, SO2 or NR; ring A is a (substituted) benzene ring; Z is a halogen atom or OSO2R; R is a 1-4C alkyl group or the like; n is an integer of 1 to 3; and p is an integer of 1 to 8 or its salt with a compound represented by general formula (II), wherein R2 is H, a (substituted) hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic group; R1 and R5 are each H, a (substituted) hydrocarbon group or the like; q is an integer of 0 to 6; and q is 0 or 1 or its salt in the presence of a metalalkoxide in amides to produce a compound represented by general formula (III) or its salt.
