PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter-inspecting device which can simply and surely judge the kinds of filter segments in a filter rod and the presence or absence of a space generated between the filter segments without related to the color components of the filter segments. SOLUTION: This filter-inspecting device characterized by comprising an Xray source 11 for irradiating a slit-like soft X-ray for circularly slicing a filter rod L which is disposed on a carrying route for the filter rod L and is continuously carried on the carrying route in the axial direction, an X-ray detector 12 for detecting the slitlike soft X-ray circularly sliced the filter rod and transmitted the filter rod, and a judging means 21 which compares the quantity of the transmitted soft X-ray detected with the X-ray detector with a prescribed threshold to judge the kinds of the filter segments in the filter rod and further judging a space between the filter segments.
