PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of bead portions by preventing separation of the turnup ends of a carcass ply and eliminating the risk of fatigue fracture of the bead portions. SOLUTION: A carcass body 1 comprises at least one carcass ply made of a steel cord and extended toroidally from a tread portion to bead portions via sidewall portions. The ply is turned back in an inner-to-outer direction along the tire radius around a bead core embedded in each bead portion. The turnup portion is partly or fully wrapped around the bead core 3 along the periphery thereof as a wrap portion 4. Adjoining the carcass body in the bead portion, at least one circumferential wire chafer 7 is arranged which comprises a rubberized cord spiraled circumferentially about the axis of tire rotation.
