PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new peptide for mammals, in particular a peptide having the activity to inhibit cell carcinogenesis due to a proto oncogene H-ras or the proliferation of cells transformed by H-ras, and to provide a polypeptide encoding the above peptide. SOLUTION: The above-mentioned polypeptide (polynucleotide) encoding this new peptide (A) or (B) described below is isolated by performing a differential display using the whole RNA extracted from ATDC5 cells as a chondrogenic EC cell strain: (A) a peptide having a mouse- or human-derived specific amino acid sequence, or (B) a peptide having an amino acid sequence with at least one amino acid substituted, deleted, inserted or transferred in the above- mentioned amino acid sequence and also having the activity to inhibit cell carcinogenesis due to H-ras or the proliferation of cells transformed by H-ras. |
