PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pit excavator for straightly excavating a pit by completely and efficiently excavating even extremely hard soil. SOLUTION: A pair of buckets 7 and 7 are provided at the tip of a guide part 3 projecting downward from an upper frame 2, and a lower frame 4 that is moved up and down by a jack 5 is fitted to the guide part 3 slidably. The lower frame 4 is connected to the buckets 7 and 7 via a pair of arms 6 and 6. A breaker 22 is provided at the arm 6. The jack 5 is extended and the lower frame 4 is lowered, the buckets 7 and 7 are pressed against soil via the arms 6 and 6, and at the same time a pin 62 in a long hole 23 is hit by the breaker 22.
