PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new ester compound capable of obtaining sufficient mutual solubility with various kinds of liquid crystalline compounds, being used in combination with many liquid crystalline materials as a substance constituting a liquid crystalline composition and lowering threshold voltage Vth of the liquid crystalline composition and making double refractive index thereof small without changing viscosity and N-I point of the liquid crystalline composition too much, a liquid crystalline composition having excellent characteristics as a liquid crystalline material and comprising the above ester compound and a liquid crystal displaying device loading the liquid crystal composition and having wide temperature range and wide visual angle. SOLUTION: This ester compound is represented by general formula (I). This liquid crystal composition comprises at least one kind of the ester compound. This liquid crystal display device loads the above liquid crystal composition.
