PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) inhibitor belonging to the family gelatinase and the family stromelysin, having excellent inhibiting effects on MMP-9 activity and inhibiting effects on MMP-3 activity, inhibiting decomposition of an extracellular matrix component of the skin by the MMPs and capable of sustaining an elastic skin without a wrinkle or a flabbiness, preventing a skin aging and sustaining fresh skin conditions. SOLUTION: This inhibitor is obtained by including one or more kinds of extracts of Valeriana fauriei Briquet or Valerianaceae, Diospyros kaki Thunberg (Ebenaceae), Astragalus sinicus Linne (Leguminosae), Crataegus cuneata Siebold et Zuccarini (Rosaceae), Paeonia suffuticosa Andrews (Poeonia montan Sims) (Paeoniaceae), Theasinensis Linne var. assamica Pierre (Theaceae), Eucalyptus globulus Labillardiere, Potentilla tormentilla Schrk (Rosaceae), Tilia cordata Mill., Tilia platyphyllus Scop., Tilia europaea Linne (Betulaceae), Betula alba Linne (Betulaceae), Origanum majorana L., Uncaria gambir Roxburgh (Rubiaceae), Juglans regia Linne var. sinensis De Candolle or Juglandaceae, Sophora flavescens Aniton (Legminosae), Sanguisorba officinalis Linne (Rosaceae), Hypericum perforatum Linne (Guttiferae) and Thea sinensis Linne (Theaceae). |
