PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reclining mechanism having good lock feeling, which makes it possible to lighten in weight at a low cost and to miniaturize without decreasing meshing force. SOLUTION: A ratchet 107, wherein two or more inner gears 111 and 111a having different diameters are arranged, is provided on a seat back side. A lower arm 101 is provided on a seat cushion side. A pole, wherein two or more outer gears 113 and 113a are arranged to mesh with each of the inner gears 111 and 111a of the ratchet 107, is provided between the lower arm 101 and the ratchet 107. On a hinge pin 105 fixed to the lower arm 101, two or more projecting parts (bar parts) 155 are provided so as to extend from the same circumference in the direction of the ratchet 107 and to engage with a hole 109 of the ratchet 107 for rotatably supporting the ratchet 107. A connecting pipe (a transmission member) 171, which transmits movement of a cam 117 to another reclining mechanism, is directly connected with the cam 117.
