PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the direct contact of the adsorbent of a freshness-retaining tool with a food or the like to enable the stable retention of the freshness of the food or the like over a long period. SOLUTION: An adsorbent 2 is nipped with two films 4, 4 from the upper and lower sides in a sandwich-like state to adhere the films 4, 4 to the upper and lower surfaces of the adsorbent 2. Skirt portions 4A laterally projected from the adsorbent 2 are formed on the outer edge sides of each film 4 to form openings 8 for evaporation between the skirt portions 4A, 4A. A freshness- retaining agent impregnated into the adsorbent 2 is gradually outward evaporated from the side surface portions 2A of the adsorbent 2 through the openings 8 for the evaporation.
