PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for tending fresh tea leaves capable of readily and surely carrying out individual tending of raw leaves and improving processing efficiency. SOLUTION: In this method for tending fresh leaves so as to tend the fresh leaves by forming a fresh leaf container from a pair of side walls, edge walls and an air-permeable conveyor, transporting the fresh leaves fed in the fresh leaf container while ventilating the fresh leaves by the air-permeable conveyor and sending out the fresh leaves onto a transportation conveyor by a scraping away apparatus installed at an outlet of the fresh leaf container, the transportation direction of the air-permeable conveyor is approximately perpendicular to that of the transportation conveyor, a plurality of fresh leaf containers are arranged side by side so that at least the tops of the side walls are made into an approximately stuck state. The scraping away apparatus is moved in the transportation direction of the transportation conveyor, installed at an outlet of the fixed fresh leaf container and the raw leaves in the fresh leaf container are sent out on the transportation conveyor connected to a steaming and heating process.
