PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lock a valve element to prevent the unprepared rotation of the valve element in the removal of a drive device for driving the valve rod of a butterfly valve or the like for maintenance or the like. SOLUTION: This lock device 11 comprises an annular stopper member 19 attachable to and detachable from the outside surface of the valve rod 3 and a lock pin 20 inserted to a bracket 5 provided on a valve box and the stopper member 19. Mutually meshing serrations 15 and 28 are formed on the inside surface of the stopper member 19 and the outside surface of the valve rod 3. The stopper member 19 is halved into semicircular split bodies 19a and 19b, and both the split bodies 19a and 19b are attachably and detachably connected to each other by a connecting means. The lock pin 20 is constituted so as to be insertable to and drawable from a pin through-hole 16 formed on the bracket 5 and a pin insert hole 29 formed on the stopper member 19.
