In a pot burner fuel oil drips from a pipe outlet 3a on to an absorbent refractory pad 7 where it is ignited by an electrically heated filament 8. The rate of fuel flow is adjusted manually at a tap 5, and an automatic control device 10 switches on the igniter in response to operation of a thermostat, and after a delay during which oil in the pipe is pre-heated, opens an on-off valve 4. The igniter current is turned off after a further delay. |
