PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting free from any shrinkage, mixture of an oxide film and gas inclusion by discharging gas in a cavity in a substantially complete manner, and effectively pressing the molten metal in the closed cavity. SOLUTION: In a vertical casting apparatus comprising a lower fixed die 1 and an upper movable die 2 to form the cavity having a gas discharging passage, an evacuating means to feed and fill the molten metal into the cavity from the bottom, a closing pin 13 to close a molten metal flow-in gate 10 provided on the fixed die after the molten metal poured in the cavity fills the cavity, a space for a molten metal solidifying zone connected with the gas discharge passage is formed on outer circumferential surfaces of a pressing stem 14 and a pressing pin 20. The filled molten metal is solidified in the space to easily close and seal the gas discharge passage. |
