PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer recording material that retains the advantages of thermal transfer printing and ink jet printing systems, while solving defects related to these systems, particularly the problem of cogation so that excellent resolution and excellent in-pixel tone can be realized and its recording performance is maintained for a long time. SOLUTION: This thermal transfer recording material comprises a pigment represented by general formula (I) (wherein ring A is a p-phenylene group; R1 and R2 are each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a phenyl group or the like; R3 is an electron-attracting group; and R4 is a carboxyl group, an aminocarbonyl group, a carbonyl group or the like). It is introduced into an image transfer section having a porous structure by capillary action, is changed in state there by application of heat, and is then transferred to a matter for printing that faces the image transfer section. |
