摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve thermal efficiency of an engine, to prevent corrosion of a cylinder liner and the like caused by condensation of combustion gas, and to make strength of the cylinder liner correspond to an increase of output. SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine, the cylinder liner 6 comprising a flange part 7 is fitted to a cylinder block 1, and a cylinder head gasket 10 is clamped between the cylinder block 1 and a cylinder head 9. A firing 14 is integrally provided to an inner periphery of the cylinder head gasket 10, and the cylinder head gasket 10 is positioned in a radially outward annular region W1 in an upper end face of the cylinder liner 6 while the firing 14 is positioned in a radially inward annular region W2. A thickness t2 of the firing 14 is set to the thickness allowing to fill up a space between the inward annular region W2 and a lower end face of the cylinder head 9 without a gap so as to prevent the combustion gas from entering.
