A rotary switch, for example, of the kind disclosed in Specification 1,100,014, comprising a spindle 19 carrying an insulating rotor 22 having one or more U-shaped spring contacts 24 for interconnecting an annulus 11 to selected fixed contacts (13, Fig. 7, not shown), integral with terminal tags 14, is provided with locating means comprising balls 34 retained in slots 33 moulded in the body portion 3 and urged by ears 31 on a spring-loaded plate 30 to engage recesses between projections pressed out of a disc 26 rigidly secured to the shaft 19. The slots 33 are preferably tapered (Fig. 5, not shown) and the ears 31 angled as shown, such that the balls 34 are also urged radially outwards to take up any wear. The body portion 3 may be a metal die casting or of plastics material; in the former case it may be earthed. |
