HARD FILM AND COATED MEMBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film and a coated member having a low friction coeffi cient and best suited for utilization in a lubricating oil. SOLUTION: This coated member is obtained by providing the surface of a base material 1 with a film 2. This film is provided at least on a part of a sliding face. The film 2 is provided with a layer essentially consisting of carbon. Then, the coated member is used in the presence of lubricating oil. The lubricating oil desirably contains an aromatic compound.
