PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brilliant aqueous ink composition for a ballpoint pen which can obtain fixable handwriting together with stronger brilliant feeling and a cubic effect compared to an aqueous ink composition using a brilliant pigment. SOLUTION: A brilliant aqueous ink composition for a ballpoint pen contains a metal foil powder or metal coated resin film powder as well as a water soluble increased viscous resin, a water soluble organic solvent and water as essential components, further contains a binder component which makes the above metal foil powder or metal coated resin film powder fix on handwriting wherein the above metal foil powder or metal coated resin film powder of 0.1-20.0 wt.% is contained in the ink composition in total and a synthetic resin emulsion of 0.1-40 wt.% as the above binder component is contained in the ink composition in total as a solid part.
