PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for an automobile capable of enlarging the suction area of an outside air port without changing the size of a blower unit. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for the automobile has the outside air port 121 in the blower unit 102, an inside air port 122a, and an inside and outside air switching damper 110 for opening and closing the outside air port 121 and the inside air port 122a by swinging between them. The shape and the position of the inside and outside air switching damper 110 are set so that the swinging locus of the tip of the damper 110 passes the inside of a casing 104a of a blower 104 through an opening part 104b formed in the casing 104a.
