SOLUTION: In this cooling device for cooling the outside of the flanges 10a by jetting cooling water 3 from plural jetting holes 2 which are provided on side guides 1 along the vertical direction onto the outsides of the flanges 10a of the wide flange shape 10 after performing finish rolling and the faces 1a which face the outsides of the flanges 10a of the side guides 1 are composed of a slope, a curved face or a stepped face so that the distance between the upper end parts of the side guides 1 and the upper end parts of the flanges 10a of the wide flange shape 10 are longer than the distance between the lower end parts of the side guides 1 and the lower end parts of the flange 10a.
