摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pickup mechanism for controlling a pickup cycle and a method of performing the pickup cycle with a copying machine, in which noise substantially decreases, and the pickup mechanism can pick up mediums at a high speed and thus increase a handling amount. SOLUTION: The pickup mechanism of the copying machine controls the pickup of the sheet mediums. The pickup mechanism in which a pickup control cam 8 is in a driven state during the pickup operation comprises a pickup control pinion 10 that tightly connects to the pickup control cam 8 and has a tooth-shaped part, and driving gear devices 15-17 that drivingly engage with the pickup control pinion 10 to control its rotation during the entire pickup cycle.
