PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a rubber composition improved in hot air aging characteristics and its vulcanizate. SOLUTION: The purpose is achieved by a composition which comprises (a) a polymer selected from the groups consisting of nitrile polymers and ethylene polymers, (b) a salt of a strong base and a weak acid containing a metal selected from among metals of the group I, and (c) a vulcanizing system comprising an inorganic peroxide compound and a sulfur-containing compound and by vulcanizing the composition.
