PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polypeptide, an endogenous ligand for an orphan growth hormone secretagogue receptor(GHSR) protein expressed in central nervous system, circulatory system, genital system, immune system, digestive organs, etc., considered to be useful as a medicament or in screening compounds capable of altering the binding tendency to GHSR. SOLUTION: This new polypeptide subject to recognition as a ligand by a GHSR protein is isolated and identified based on an indicator such as the result of assaying specific cell stimulation (signal transmission) activity using cells which are produced by expressing a cDNA encoding the GHSR by an appropriate means. |
