PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rise and fall caster which does not require a large handling space and also does not require handling at the depth. SOLUTION: The rise and fall casters 21 are fixed to the right and left sides within a plinth 25 of an article of furniture 23 or the like and the caster is formed of a long base plate 27 and a long material in the same direction with the base plate 27 and equipped with casters 31 at the bottom face and it is provided with a movable bracket, which is formed of a rise and fall plate 29 vertically movable to the underface of the base plate 27 through a slide column and a long material and arranged between the base plate 27 and the rise and fall plate 29 and in which the base end is rotatably fixed to the base plate 27 and the front end is extended toward the front part of the furniture 23 or the like and further, the middle of base end and the front end is rotatably fixed to the slide column, and an adjusting screw which penetrates the base plate 27 at the front position and is screwed in and the upper end on which an adjusting part is formed is exposed on the upper face of the base plate 27 and the lower end comes into contact with the front end of the movable bracket.
