PURPOSE: An apparatus for assembling a gain smoothing filter assembly used for an optical amplifier is provided to shorten a period of time required for alignment of the gain smoothing filter assembly and to allow a collimator and a core assembly to be exactly aligned. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for assembling a gain smoothing filter assembly used for an optical amplifier includes a base body, a module for temporarily fixing one of a collimator and a core assembly, and an aligner having an alignment pin combined with a pin hole formed at one of the collimator and the core assembly and a rotator for rotating the alignment pin with respect to the fixing module. The apparatus further has a signal detector for applying a predetermined signal to the collimator and detects the signal that has passed through the core assembly, and a central processing unit for determining a rotation angle of the rotator to place the signal within a predetermined error range according to the signal output from the signal detector.
