PURPOSE: A method for preventing an illegal distribution of a software is provided to prevent a software from being distributed illegally by obtaining a distribution symbol recorded by a non-standard file system in a specific area of a CD-ROM and comparing the symbol with a certifying symbol, thereby preventing an intentional access of a software installer. CONSTITUTION: An installer(600) confirms the contents of a CD-ROM(620) storing software to be installed through an operating system(610) and commands(601) to the operating system(610) for executing an installation work of an installing file having the software. The operating system(610) starts the installation by reading an installing file(621) of the corresponding software. The installing file demands(613) an input of a certification sign to a CDPD controller(630) for confirming that the software is a normal product obtained through a normal path. If the CDPD controller senses a certification sign being recorded in the CD-ROM and processes(632) the certification sign as a form requested by the installing file and notifies(633) the certification sign to the installing file, the installing(614) file compares the certification sign with the normal certification sign(623). If the certification sign is identified with the normal certification sign, the installation is continued(615), and the software is installed in a hard disk.
