The insulated roof substructure supports a substrate-bearing structure for the plants. This bearing structure is formed from corrugated plates arranged in criss-cross fashion whereby the lower cover has corrugations running in the inclined direction of the roof whilst. The upper cover has corrugations running horizontal or cross-wise in order on one hand to hold the substrate and on the other to serve as a water reservoir with controlled maximum filling level. The roof structure can be a hot roof structure or cold roof structure. The lower end of the lower cover can be adjoined by a gutter.
