PURPOSE: A cable modem device in a communication system using a cable TV transport network is provided to eliminate any adverse effect to the operation of the system by automatically stopping the transmission output of the terminal at an abnormal transmission state. CONSTITUTION: A cable modem device(100) is installed between a cable TV line(200) and PC(300) on recipient side, modulating the data from the PC(300) and transmitting it to the recipient side through the cable TV line(200) while demodulating the data transmitted and sending it to PC(300) on the transmitter side. The cable modem device(100) has a mixed divider(111) connected to the cable TV line(200), a receiving RF circuit(112), a transmitting RF circuit(113), an LAN interface circuit(114) on PC side, an RF transmission status detecting circuit(115), an RF receipt status detecting circuit(116), and a micro computer(117) as a controller.
