The optical cable has an internal section (2) with a number of optical fibres (5). There is an outer tube (4) with outer compartments (7) which have a second set of optical fibres. Up to eight fibres can be placed in the outer compartment, which are grooves, allowing easy intermediate cable connections to be made.
