The post distribution unit comprises at least one cabinet with a number of compartments and at least one key-, electrically or electronically-operated cabinet door. The compartments (112,114) are segregated from one another by a withdrawable dividing wall (120). Two compartments, segregated by the wall, are positioned one on top of the other. The dividing wall, with the cabinet door (116) closed, is locatable on the cabinet floor. The dividing wall is height-adjustable in a staged manner. Several cabinet doors (115,116) are arranged, of which one (116) is lockable, possibly from the inside. The dividing wall has a retention securement device, which with the cabinet door closed, is operable.
