PROTEOLIPOSOMES CONTAINING AN INTEGRAL MEMBRANE PROTEIN HAVING ONE OR MORE TRANSMEMBRANE DOMAINS

A stable proteoliposome containing an integral membrane protein in a lipid membrane around an elliptoid or spherical shape. The shape preferably contai ns an attractant such as streptavidin or avidin and the lipid membrane contains a moiety that binds to the attractant such as biotin. The integral membrane protein is bound to a ligand which is anchored in the shape. Methods for making the proteoliposomes are provided. Kits for making the proteoliposome are described, as are the uses of the proteoliposome.
