Formable, multilayer plastic compound foil, adhesively bonded with leather on top and with a base (e.g. metal) underneath consists of an upper film based on a thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer and a lower layer of crosslinked polyolefin foam, bonded together directly by thermal lamination Formable, multilayer plastic compound foil with an upper film based (1) on thermoplastic material, on the underside of which is a layer of thermoplastic-based foam, the whole system having a layer of leather on the top and a base layer of a timber product, metal and/or plastic on the bottom. The upper film (1), which is based on a thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer (TPO) with a Shore D hardness (SDH) of 28-35 and an MFI (230/2.16) of 0.4-0.8 g/10 min, is directly bonded on its underside (6) with a layer (5) of mainly closed-cell and at least partly crosslinked polyolefin foam, underneath which is a layer of coupling agent (7) based on a 2-component aromatic polyurethane system containing a dulling agent, while the upper side (2) of film (1) is coated with a first layer of coupling agent (3) based on chlorinated polyolefin and a second layer of coupling agent (4) based on an aliphatic polyester-polyurethane system containing a dulling agent. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the production of this compound foil by (i) making an upper film (1) consisting of 100 parts by weight (pts. wt.) TPO elastomer with a high elastomer content, an SDH of 28-32 and an MFI as above, 35-45 pts. wt. finely divided inorganic filler, 0-10 pts. wt. color pigment (optionally as a masterbatch) and 0.1-0.5 pt. wt. light stabiliser and/or antioxidant, by calendering to a thickness of 0.2-1 mm, (ii) corona-treating the upper side with a surface tension of 48 mN/m or more and then successively coating this side with coupling agents (3) and (4) in a diluent or solvent, (iii) corona-treating one side of a sheet of polyolefin foam (as above) with a surface tension of 48 mN/m or more, coating this side with coupling agent (7) (in a diluent or solvent) and then (iv) laminating the pretreated foil (1) and the pretreated foam with their untreated sides together by heating.
