The retainer for two swing components (1,2), and especially a hinge, has a tooth segment (4) as a ratchet. It has projecting teeth at least partially from a flat surface, working with a spring (5a) as the counter unit together with a rotating cam wheel (6). When there is a swing movement of the two hinge components (1,2), the cam wheel (6) rolls against the pressure of the spring (5a) on the surface of the tooth segment (4) and its cams engage in the gaps between the tooth projections of the segment (4).
