发明名称 Method and Apparatus for Sealing Gas under High Pressure into a Gas-Sealed Type Shock Absorber
摘要 1,173,456. Hydropneumatic shock absorber filling methods. KAYABA KOGYO K.K. 26 Sept., 1967 [9 Nov., 1966; 11 Nov., 1966], No. 43736/67. Heading F2S. A hydropneumatic shock absorber is charged with pressurized gas by apparatus including a jig bar which is used to position a floating piston which, in the assembled shock absorber, separates the gas charge from the liquid charge. The gas is admitted to the shock absorber through an aperture associated with a loose ball inside the shock absorber. This ball is displaced from the aperture during charging and after charging the gas pressure holds the ball in the aperture. In Fig. 2, the floating piston 14 which is to separate the liquid chamber A from the gas chamber B is first set in its required position by pushing the jig bar 21 into the filling aperture 11. The liquid chamber A is then filled and the actuating piston assembly 16, 17, 18 is fitted and sealed. On subsequent removal of the jig bar the floating piston 14 remains in its set position. The gas chamber B is then filled with nitrogen (after, if considered necessary, first evacuating the original air in this chamber) by the use of the charging apparatus of Fig. 3 (not shown). When the shock absorber is removed from the charging apparatus, the ball 12 automatically closes aperture 11. Subsequently this aperture may be more positively sealed from outside. In Fig. 4 (not shown), the gas chamber B is first filled with liquid, the floating piston 14 is inserted by use of a jig bar (32) entered from above and excess liquid is extracted through the filling aperture 11 as the floating piston descends to its required position. The liquid chamber A is then filled with liquid and the actuating piston assembly fitted as before. Thus, on removal of the shock absorber from the filling means of Fig. 4, both chambers are filled with liquid. The apparatus of Fig. 5 is subsequently used to replace the liquid in chamber B by gas. This apparatus consists of a hollow rod 71 which serves the double function of mechanically dislodging the ball 12 from the filling aperture and of conveying pressurised gas from a pipeline 73. As gas is admitted liquid is displaced into a reservoir 65 with an overflow aperture 70 so positioned that the maximum hydrostatic head in the reservoir is less than the gas supply pressure by an amount sufficient to hold the valve 69 open. The appearance of gas bubbles in the reservoir will indicate completion of charging, at which point the tap 72 is closed.
