METAL CASTING DEVICE AND METAL CASTING METHOD USING THE SAME

A device suitable for casting high-melting point metal, and a metal casting method using this device. The metal casting device comprises a pressure-controllable casting chamber (1), in which a crucible (2), a mold (3) and an arc discharge electrode rod (10) are placed, a support shaft (6) at the outflow end of the crucible (2) close to the casting port (5) of the mold (3), the crucible (2) being tiltable around the axis of the support shaft (6), a crucible tilting means (7) at the non-outflow end of the crucible (2), wherein, during a period from the time the arc melting of a metal (4) is started and progresses on the crucible (2) until the crucible (2) is tilted to allow the metal (4) in the molten state to fall, the spacing between the metal and the electrode rod is kept substantially constant, and the arc discharge is continued even while the metal (4) flows to fall. On this occasion, it is preferable that a pressure reducing pump (12) and a pressure gas supply source (13) be connected to the casting chamber (1) and that the pressure-controlled gas supply pressure P1 be made greater than a gas pressure P2 necessary for casting and the supply of the pressure gas be cut off when it reaches the gas pressure P2.
