The invention relates to a guide wheel, drive wheel or driven wheel that is designed to make a tooth belt drive mechanism run more quietly, whereby the outer periphery thereof contains apertures so that the individual gripping areas (5) that are used to grasp the teeth of (4) of the tooth belt (2) can be elastically displaced to a certain extent in the direction of the perpiphery. The apertures are made by incisions (8) that extend preferably in a radial direction. The individual gripping areas (5) are arranged on webs (9) that enable elastic deformation.
