摘要 PURPOSE: A general fourier seek method and apparatus for hard disk drive servo mechanism is provided to shorten seek time and to reduce acoustic noise by designing so that a transducer of a hard disk drive has a general fourier seek acceleration feedback. CONSTITUTION: A disk(12) has a surface. A spindle motor rotates the disk(12). A transducer(16) records information in the disk(12) and reads information from the disk(12). An actuator arm transfers the transducer(16) crossing the surface of the disk(12). A controller(42) controls the actuator to transfer the transducer(16) across the disk surface using general fourier series seek acceleration feedback having at least two articles. A servo control system(60) is composed of hardware and software to be executed by a controller(42). The servo control system(60) makes the transducer(16) be positioned correctly at a target track of the disk(12). The controller executes a seek routine which transfers the transducer(16) from the first track to new track to be positioned Xsk apart from the first track. A gray code of one or more than one track to be positioned between new track and the first track is read by the transducer(16) moving across the disk(12). The controller(42) is allowed to decide periodically that the transducer(16) is moved with a target speed and acceleration across the track.
