<p>Method and apparatus for pneumatically transporting abrasive particulate materials at high temperature, by means of a carrier gas through a plurality of co-axial straight pipes 3, 3', 3''. The pipes are maintained under constant tension by applying a force across an expansion joint 1 coupling said pipes to maintain the pipes straight against the forces acting on the pipes which tend to cause bending and deformation thereof. The constant tensioning force may be applied by means of hydraulic cylinders (36) in combination with a telescopic water-cooled sleeve (32).</p> |
