PURPOSE: A control method for starting a vehicle is provided to prevent troubles in starting a vehicle, and to prevent an engine of the vehicle from being stopped suddenly by controlling starting of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: Units are formed in an engine power train unit such as an engine(10) and a clutch(12), and controlled with a control unit(16). Setting variables according to the position of an accelerator(14) are decided with the control unit in starting a vehicle. The desired speed of the vehicle engine is set according to the position of the accelerator, and the first torque of the clutch is preset at the first phase. The end of the first phase is decided according to the actual engine speed and the desires speed. The output torque is preset in the engine of the vehicle according to the position of the accelerator at the second phase, and the second torque is preset in the clutch. Sudden stop of the engine is prevented in starting.
